You don't mention here how to map to an ECT. i.e. I have an email address in my ECT and Email in my AD profile import, that is what I want to use as the join to map all my other data from my ECT import. How does one do this?

I guess it will map automatically to the Identifier field of the External Content type field which is CustomerID field in this solution.

Hi there,

Yup.. managed to fix the script now so it dumps out the terms using the GetAllTerms() method. Silly mistake before. Just about to post another script that exports to csv per Term Level too.

Hi WilyGuy, I had a similar issue with one DB in particular. Usually it points to an ECT, BDC or secure store permission, but in my case, the identifier in my ECT was a system.guid which sharepoint has shortcomings in. I had to change the identifier to a different field in my ECt.

Is is possible to move terms under one term group/parent term to another term group / parent_term_with_same_name, Using PowerShell.

I have 400 to move and it is so tedious via the term store management

Hi Kristof,

My SP engineer says this script does not pick up nested terms (haven't looked at the code myself yet). Do you have a version that does?

Also can it export all labels (synonyms), and the GUID for the term? These would be very helpful for maintaining a master file with information that the MMS term store does not support, and for moving term stores between systesm.

Excellent article but I am pulling my hair out on an issue. I have followed everything in this article and checked the settings twice. I can crawl sites in both farms with no issues. On the publishing farm I get search results. On the consuming farm I cannot get any search results.

The only error I see is in the logs for the web server in the consuming farm as follows:

Error while fetching query suggestion results. Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Query.SearchApplicationIsExtendedConnectorException: Extended Connector Search Service Application cannot process queries. ---> System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceApplicationFault]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceApplicationFault). Any ideas are greatly appreciated?

The "Return items identified by this profile property" is blank? I have tried different kinds of User Properties to see if I can match it.

If I create a filter in the ECT, I can see that in the 1:many, but still no profile property.

Help?

I have just started to access the farm I am on. Anyway, I do get the error: " You do not have permissions to have lists and pages within My Site" , but nly when I click on the content tab on my sites. I don't yet have permissions to check the AAM so I cannot verify if the fix you describe will work. Any thoughts

Had the issue described in the Update, and reprovisioning the service applications fix the error.

Karl, I had the same problem and reason was that I did not do sync with AD at all. According to my findings you have to have both AD and BCD sync, because UserName is populated from AD profile sync. That means use have a match of sync properties, but there is no username on sharepoint site.

Thanks for this really helpful post. However, if you have several thousand user profiles, how do you go about setting values for the property that the AD and BCS connections are joined on? For ex., in this case, Alternate Customer ID.

I've run into similar problems... Changing the query language of the People Search Results webpart to a language that is a lot different to ours (Greek vs Dutch) has improved our search results. This work-around does mean you don't use nicknames...
